Saturday morning, August 5th, Nate and Zane woke up at 6 when it started getting light out. We went over to watch cartoons until Papa came out. Then it was straight out to the trampoline for Papa and Zane. The weather was GORGEOUS! It was cool and windy and cloudy and smelled like rain. I have to admit that my mind was thinking about the reunion and what we would be doing if we were there. Friday night as I set up Zane's tent inside, I thought about how grateful I was that I was not setting up a tent in the dark and cold of the reunion, but missed the sweet smell of the pines and the fry bread and beans that are always waiting for us when we get there.
That morning, as I chased Nate around the backyard trying to keep him from eating rocks and getting muddy, I thought about the reunion again. If it was raining in the valley, it was definitely raining up north. I was so glad that I was not trying to keep my kids dry and out of the rain and yet still entertained while camping. Yet, I so was missing hte smell of rain in the pines, the cool weather and the sound of the rain in the forest.
After a while, Daddy woke up and then Rubi, Chaney, Scotti, Cory and Grandma. It started raining outside and the kids were so excited to run in the rain. Papa was kind enough to make me a yummy breakfast of waffles, and omelettes. I really was in heaven. Zane and Rubi were so excited to see each other and play again. I was enjoying myself too much to remember to take pictures. Chaney and Cory got video, so I will try to get a copy of that. Grandma Ann came over after she went to the temple to see us. It was so good to see her and she was so excited to see Nate walking.
After going over to check out the furniture at Grammie's house, took naps. Mommy and Nate were so tired and went to sleep first. Daddy joined us soon after, but Zane stayed at Grandma's to play. Jen came over with Hazen, Ashlyn and Rigden. Zane was so excited to play with his cousins. When I woke up from my nap, I was worrying that my family would be mad that we had not been over there yet. I was hoping that they would not be mad at me for making them miss the reunion. I was reassured after I called them and they were all doing their own things and not upset at all. Pa had an infection in his mouth and a dry socket from teeth he had had pulled earlier in the week. He was glad he was he was not camping in that kind of pain. Grandma Ann was helping Christi get stuff ready for the baby. Christi was glad to have the family around and not be left out. Not long after naps, we went over to visit Grandma Ann and Pa.
We were all so happy to see Grandma Ann, Pa and all the rest of the family. We had a yummy dinner there and enjoyed playing and talking and relaxing. We also found out that some friends of the family were having their open house in Mesa on Saturday night. We were so glad that we were in town to be able to go and congratulate Brian and Ashton Scurr on their wedding and see the family. Friday night I helped Chaney tweek some things on teh vidoe she was putting together for them. The video turned out so good and we were glad we got to go and watch it.
We were glad for a fun, relaxing day in Mesa.
