This morning, Zane went to "Soccer Kicks." It was actually the second week, but I forgot that I had signed him up and when it started so we stayed too long in Arizona to go to the first week. So we showed up and the park was absolutely packed. They had adult soccer games going on as well as kids soccer, football, and cheerleading. There was no parking at all. Daddy dropped us off and had to go find a spot across the street. I took the boys and got Zane his shirt, although they only had youth larges left which means his shirt is like a dress. I am going to try to take it in this week so he will actually wear it next week. Zane really didn't want to go on the field without the soccer ball we brought from home. However, I finally got him out on the field and then it was time to move fields. Nate and I took our chairs and umbrella and followed the mass of parents to another field. We got set up and then I had to go chase Zane down. He ran off the field looking for me and ran in the wrong direction. Thankfully, Nate was so good and was intrigued by all the action everywhere that he stayed put. Watching the two coaches try to corral almost 30 4-year-old kids and try to get them to form a line was HILARIOUS! Daddy almost got to us when we realized he forgot his chair and the water bottles in it, so he had to turn around and go back and get them. However, he did end up getting a parking space by then. Daddy figured out how to set up the umbrella so we weren't sitting in the sun and we all enjoyed the entertainment. Nate raided Mom's purse and watched on from his chair. Zane kept running back over to us for water and I think just checking that we were still there and watching. Daddy brought a book to read but Zane would have none of that. He wanted Daddy's undivided attention.
They stretched, chased the coach for warm up and then worked on passing, kicking, dribbling and then played a game. The game was the most entertaining part. At one point, Zane started running after the wrong ball that somehow got out onto the field. (Unfortunately, my camera died while he was still going after the wrong ball. Note to Mommy - make sure the camera battery is charged next time).
We were pretty impressed though, Zane was always at the front of the pack when he was paying attention. We thought he was fast, but this proved he really is fast. It was always easy to find Zane in the crowd. Even when he was wearing the orange shirt like everyone else, he was the only blonde boy. There was a blonde girl, Hannah, who was really tall. Other than those two, it was a sea of dark heads running around. Also, Zane wore his sunglasses the whole time. I wish Nate was so good at wearing his glasses.
At the end, he came running over so excited that he had done so well and ready to call Grandma and Papa and tell them all about it! He was so excited for carrots and juice boxes at the end of soccer. I think he is a fan of sports and that today was only the beginning of a long many years of sitting at practices and games!

Great job Zane! Ayla was yelling for you the whole time we watched it. She says to tell you that you did a good job.
