Families Can Be Together Forever

I know that most people who read this blog are aware that my cousin's little boy, Gavin Charles Sprague, passed away last week. Gavin is Bethany and Andre's son and he would be turning one on the 6th of October. Gavin was born with a genetic disorder called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. This caused Gavin's liver to fail. He was waiting for a liver transplant and despite 3 offers of transplants, none of these livers were right for Gavin and experienced some complications. You can read more about Gavin on his blog GiftforGavin.org. (I wish I knew how to link things on my blog, but hopefully I will learn soon.) Gavin's funeral was held on Saturday. It was beautiful. My mom gave the life history and made it through her talk. One of Bethany's friends sang Mary's Lullaby. President Robison told us that the real miracle happened when Bethany and Andre met and got married in the temple, sealed as a forever family. That makes it possible for them to be with Gavin again.
Bethany has always lived next door to my parents. She is like one of my sisters and Gavin was like one of my nephews. He had the biggest brown eyes and the sweetest smile. Gavin was one of Zane's favorite people. Every time we went to my parents, Zane would cry to go over and see Gavin. It is so cute to hear Zane point out Gavin's picture on the wall at Grandma Ann's. Zane loves Gavin and always wanted to hold him. Gavin helped Zane get ready to be a big brother.
Thank you to all of you who have called or e-mailed or have prayed for us and for Gavin's family. We appreciate your concern. Please continue to pray for comfort for Bethany and Andre and their two older kids.
We take solace in our faith. We know that we will be with Gavin again. We know that Gavin is at home with our Heavenly Father. He was so brave and strong to fight through all of the tests and stays in the hospital. Our whole family has learned so much from Gavin and we feel so lucky to have had him in our family. Bethany and Andre are such wonderful parents. They gave Gavin the best life ever in his short time. We love you Gavin.

I'm so sad to hear about this! It is truly a blessing to know that families are forever. I hope your cousin and her family are coping and will soon find peace in this trial!
