Happy 5th Birthday Zane!

Today is Zane's 5th birthday and I wanted to record a little about Zane to remember my Sweet and Feisty 5 year old!

Zane is such a fun kid. He is full of attitude and personality that really gives mom a run for her money. He has definite opinions and is very stubborn about doing what he wants when he wants to. He loves to laugh and is often trying to make Nate laugh. Zane and Nate are best friends and love to play together, laugh, wrestle and of course fight (both play fights and real fights). Zane is such a boys boy. He loves all things boy related including cars, trucks, motorcycle, quads, balls, sports, running, sword fighting, beating bad guys at anything, slaying dragons, playing pirates, riding bikes, skateboards and scooters, being outside and anything that lets him get dirty. Zane loves to steal my camera and scroll through all the pictures and watch the videos, especially ones of himself. I am always finding pictures that Zane has taken of himself and the world around him on my camera. I am grateful that it is a digital camera and I can erase most of them. Although Zane will never admit to it, he loves Chloe (the little girl we babysit). He loves to hold her and make her laugh, take care of her and play with her. He is such a good help most of the time.

This year, Zane went to preschool and loved it. He is learning his letters and numbers and is excited to go to kindergarten. He playing soccer in the fall and baseball in the spring. Zane's best friends are Andres Orantes, Melissa Swart, Cameron Lackey and all of his cousins.

His favorite food is pizza and could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast he loves Poptarts, Nutri-grain bars, Frosted Mini Wheats, Honey Nut Shredded Wheat, Oatmeal and Pancakes. At lunch he loves lunch meat, cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, corn dogs, pizza pockets, and plain noodles with "Karmesan" (Parmesan) cheese on it. For dinner he loves macaroni and cheese, spaghetti noodles without sauce, hot dogs, hamburgers and of course pizza. He does not like beans and we have to be tricked into eating them. He is trying out a picky phase and every night says that there is something different that he does not like that we are serving. He is constantly asking me if he has ever had a certain food and if he likes it. We make him try a bite of everything on his plate, so there aren't many foods he actually doesn't like. He likes most vegetables and fruits. His favorites are carrots, strawberries, apples, grapes  and watermelon.

Zane's favorite color is green and his favorite number has been 4, because he was 4, but I suspect that it will change to 5 this year. He can write his own name and likes to point out Z's where ever he finds them.

He hasn't been taking a nap for almost 2 years and sleeps in his own bed most nights. He has several things that he has to have to sleep with. these change often, but currently they are: his cars pillow, a big pillow with a camo pillow case, Big Puppy, Little Puppy, a small alligator, Chunk, a water sippy cup and at least 2-3 blankets. Right now the blankets are a Mickey Mouse blanket from Granny, a race car fleece blanket from Grandma Ann and a maroon fleece blanket. We have to try to convince him not to put them all on at night now that it is getting warmer. Over the winter, he would not sleep without his rice heat pack warmed up from the microwave. Thankfully he has agreed to not use it while it is warm out. Every night before bed, Zane requests a song. His favorite right now is what he calls "The Angel Song" which is really "I Wonder When He Comes Again." This last year the most commonly requested songs have been, "Follow the Prophet" or "The Adam Song," "He Sent His Son" or Love and Tenderness" and all Christmas long it was "Jingle Bells."

Zane is very shy around people he doesn't know, but once he warms up to you, he can talk your ear off and demand your complete attention. He is very self conscious and always has been. He gets embarrassed easily and does not usually want people to watch him do things, unless it is his idea for you to watch him and then he wants your undivided attention.

We love our Zaner and can't wait to see the many things that he will accomplish in this next year!
Happy Birthday!
