Nathan eats every two hours during the day, except sometimes he will go three if he is taking a good nap. At night, however, Nate has been going about 7-9 hours between feedings.
Nate began regularly sleeping through the night this month. He normally sleeps for about 8 hours at night, but has slept as long as 10 hours at a time. Nate also takes several catnaps during the day and once or twice a day he will take a nap that is 1-2 hours long. Mommy is really happy when one of these naps falls during Zane's nap.
Firsts This Month:
We found out when he was 5 weeks old that his tongue was tied and so he only had 3 millimeters of movement in his tongue. This was causing all kinds of nursing problems. Basically, the frenulum, or membrane that connects your tongue to the bottom of your mouth, was too long and constricting his tongue movement. On August 4th, we went to the doctor and they clipped the frenulum to give him more movement. Unfortunately for Nate, they strapped him to the circumcision board and without nubbing anything, they clipped the frenulum with scissors. Then they cauterized the area with silver nitrate. I had read that this should not really hurt him or bleed alot. They lied. Nate had to have so much cut that he bled quite a bit and was very cranky for several days. Mike was brave and stayed in the room with Nate. I didn't want to hear him scream and waited in the waiting room. We had never seen him use his tongue so much and it took him a few days to get used to it. The doctor did get his lip with the silver nitrate, so he had a scab on the outside and a fat lip. It was fun to see him put his tongue on the roof of his mouth and kept telling him that he would thank us later. Mommy is grateful for the improvement already.

And Because It Makes Us Laugh:
Zane insisted on getting his picture taken and decided he wanted to hold Nate in the picture. Zane was happy, but as you can tell, Nate was not so happy about it.
Nate's favorite person is Pa. As soon as Pa starts talking, Nate searches and as soon as he locks onto Pa, he starts smiling and giggling and "talking".
We love you Nate and can't wait to see what the next month brings!

Hey Kim! Thanks for commenting on my blog. I've seen yours before but lost it and it's obviously been a long time because I didn't know you had another baby. He is beautiful and it's fun to see families of boys. We have 3 now.
