Thanksgiving 2009

We were so lucky to have Grandma Ann fly out to drive home to Arizona with me and the boys for Thanksgiving.  She flew in on the 20th in the evening and we drove back to AZ on the 21st.  The boys were so excited to see Grandma Ann and have her ride in our van with us.  I was worried about driving by myself, so it was so nice to have company on the drive.  Mike had to stay for school and got to fly in on Wednesday night.

It was so fun to be in AZ for a few extra days.  We enjoyed hanging out with  all our family.  We also got to take family pictures with both sides of our family.  Thanksgiving morning, we met at the Temple for Despain pictures.  The Gifford pictures were on Friday evening.  I will post those pictures in their own post.

I made rolls for both families as my contribution this year.  About two weeks before Thanksgiving, my ward asked me to teach a class on making rolls.  I made No Fail Bread.  I got the recipe from Laurie Nicoll and I truly have never had them fail, that is until Thanksgiving.  I made three batches, but I used yeast that wasn't good anymore and so they didn't rise.  What an embarrassment, however it was nice to be able to sympathize with those in my ward who had a hard time.  Oh well, you live you learn.

Christi had Thanksgiving at her house again this year.  After dinner, Jayden, Zane, Ayla and Emily treated us to a concert.  Then we went off to the Gifford's for our next meal.

After dinner there, Daddy took the boys on a bike ride in our new bike trailer.  Mike found it on Craigslist for $120, when it retails for about $400.  It is so awesome as a stroller and the boys love it on the back of Daddy's bike.  Papa even went with the boys on their ride.  They were so mad when the ride was over!
Thanksgiving night, I stayed up all night with my mom, Bethany and Julie.  Then we went out at 4 to Wal-Mart for Black Friday.  Julie and Bret and Bret's sisters and dad were there and we spread out throughout the store and we were all able to get everything we wanted.  It was fun and it was so great to be able to get such great deals!

The rest of the weekend, we just hung out with family and enjoyed AZ.  We were so sad to have to go home on Sunday, but it was nice to know that we would be back in just a few weeks!
