Randall reported to the MTC on March 17th. We were excited to go and see him off. The boys and I loaded up and drove to AZ. It turned out to be quite the adventure. Mike left for school early and I was going to get up and out the door early too. However, the neighbors had found mold in the wall of their apartment and so for the 2 weeks before we have had workers out blocking the walkway to the parking lot. I had to take any suitcase or bag that had straps I hung out on the gate on the patio and then walked around the back of our building out by the pond to get to the next walk way to get out. Once I loaded all those bags into the van, I moved the van around to be closer to our door when I walked out by the pond. While I was doing all of this, the boys were out on our back patio throwing wood chips into the living room. I like to leave the house really clean when we go on vacation because I hate coming home to a dirty house. I had everything finished except for vacuuming. When I walked into the house to get the rest of the bags, I was glad that I hadn't vacuumed since the floor was now filled with wood chips. After 2 or 3 more trips to load the rest of our stuff, I got the boys out towards the door and literally vacuumed us out of the house. I was so relieved to be getting going. We still had to stop for ice for the cooler and to get some lunch. Chick-Fil-A here in Southern California had a March madness promotion that if you bought a meal anytime during the month and brought the receipt back in on a Friday you could get the same meal for free. The boys and I stopped at the Chick-Fil-A near the mall on our way out of town,. It was good that we were already stopping since I started getting dizzy as I was driving. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make it to AZ, but the food helped and I was ready to get on the road. However, I couldn't find the entrance to the east bound 10. This is one thing that I HATE about California since you never know which side of the road the freeway entrances are on. I ended up passing it twice but not where I could get on the freeway. I figured that I could just get on at the next main road. Unfortunately, there was construction and I could not find a road that went through to the freeway. I could see the freeway so I kept driving east since at least I was going in the right direction. It took us so long that we had to stop and find a restroom before we could get going again. An hour after getting off the freeway, I finally got back on and was on my way. After 5 stops for potty breaks and to change the boys movie, we got to Mesa. Our last stop was at an Old Navy in Buckeye for a last minute potty break for Zane. The sad thing is that we walked into Grandma and Papa's house just in enough time to unload and then see Papa off to the airport to pick up Daddy who flew in. Yes, I spent over 6 hours on the road with the boys and Mike went to school, hopped on a plane and got to Phoenix just after us. It is a toss up on who had the worst day!
