Well, here it is. We have finally joined the blogging world. Mike was not really excited about the whole blogging thing, but I decided that I needed a blog. Why would I need a blog you might ask? I need a blog to write my thoughts down and an easy way to ensure that I keep a sort of journal of what happens in our lives. I am sorry to all who might read this and get incredibly bored by our not so exciting life. Let me fill you in on what is going with the Giffords now.
Mike is about a month away from graduating from ASU with a Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, emphasizing Business and Biology. Thankfully, he is only taking two classes this semester. He is working full time at an independent EPA approved lab that tests water and soil samples for all that good stuff we don't want going into the environment. He just got a promotion, after only 3 months of working there. He now works with quality assurance and gets to calibrate equipment, train new people and make sure that everyone does things right so no one higher up goes to jail. It definitely keeps him busy and lets him use all of the chemistry he has learned in school.
I get to stay home with Zane everyday. I feel so blessed to have a wonderful husband who works so hard so that I can stay home and raise Zane. I always find lots to keep myself busy. I am the secretary in our primary presidency, which forces me to stay organized. Also, I love being so close to all of my family and love getting together for play dates and helping out where I can. Zane and I love to get to go join my dad on walks whenever possible. For those who don't know he had his back fused a little over a month ago and goes on walks 2-4 times a day. He is up to walking about 6 miles a day. Zane loves the stroller and I love getting to spend time with my dad.
Zane is now 17 months old. Only one month left before he can go to nursery, but whose counting right! Zane runs everywhere now. He keeps mommy on her toes. Zane loves to be outside and is really enjoying the beautiful weather that we have been having in Arizona. Today we spent most of today outside enjoying the overcast day and the off-and-on sprinkles of rain that we haven't seen in 43 days, according to the news. Grandma Gifford just gave him his second haircut and we went short and cut off all of his unruly curls. He looks like a little boy now, and not a baby. While we are all sad to see the change, we are excited about what is to come...if we could just skip the tantrum part.
