After baths on June 3rd, Gabe noticed Rubi had a black mark on her foot. After closer examination, we decided that she had a splinter that was festering and infected, with a red line leading straight up from it towards her heart. We knew that we had to get it out fast. Grandma held Rubi, Gabe worked on getting it out and Steph and I sang in her ear to try to calm her down. She was livid that we were holding her down. We were grateful that Chaney wasn't home yet so we could be the bad guys and she didn't have to. We couldn't get it and decided to have her soak her foot in Epsom Salt before we tried again. We knew that Rubi wouldn't sit still unless Zane was there with her. I got out the little camp chairs while Gabe got the salt bath. Grandma sat with the kids while they soaked their feet. It was so funny. Not too long after the foot soaking began, rubi decided to sit all the way in the bucket. When Chaney got home, it was decided that the only option was to take her to the doctor's office after hours clinic. Thankfully, the doctor was able to papoose Rubi and get the splinter out. For about a week afterwards, Zane kept telling everyone about his owies and how Rubi had an owie on her foot and went to the doctor. I thonk he was a little jealous.
