On June 13th, we had a Construction Party for Zane. I had fun learning how to use Microsoft Publisher while making the invite.

We invited cousins and a few neighborhood friends. I got all the ideas for the party online and from the Family Fun magazine from July 2008. We started the party with personalizing hard hats, because what construction worker wants the same hat as everyone else. I made some signs to decorate the house with and also used caution tape. We drank water out of, what else, a big orange cooler. We had a couple games for the kids to play. There were buckets to throw balls into, boxes to knock down with the wrecking ball, pin the stop sign on the construction site, trucks to drive and tools to play with and don't forget jumping on the trampoline. Jayden led us in a fun game of Simon Says. I also made a Construction Cone Pinata out of poster board, cardboard and caution tape pull tabs. Inside the kids found packets of Goldfish crackers.
After the games we ate dirt mound cake which was next to the Front Loader cake. Nate had fun practicing for his birthday while eating Zane's cake. He was covered and so content. We had a wheelbarrow to put the presents in. Zane loved all of his gifts and had so much fun. We haven't gotten thank you notes out, but we do appreciate all of you coming and supporting Zane. Pa made the party by showing up in his full construction worker gear. The kids all got a small construction cone as a party favor. I found the cones at Target in their dollar bin and turned them upside down and tied ribbon through the holes for a handle. Inside the cone was a construction rubber duckie, tool water squirter, gummy tools to eat and some foam growing vehicles. I don't think I took a picture of them, but I was really pleased with them. I had so much fun planning and putting on this party. I think the kids had a great time and it was a good distraction from thinking about moving. Happy Birthday Zane!
